Our Leadership Team
The Director of Catholic Education is responsible to the Archbishop of Canberra and Goulburn. Mr Ross Fox was appointed to this role in 2016.
The Catholic Education Service Area Leadership Team (SALT) is made up of the Heads of Service from the office at Manuka. SALT meets regularly to make strategic decisions on important policies and initiatives. It is chaired by Mr Ross Fox.
Catholic Education of Canberra and Goulburn has six Heads of Service. Each Head of Service has responsibility for their specific area of operation. The six Service Areas are:
- School Services
- Directorate Services
- Religious Education and Curriculum Services
- Resource Management and Strategy
- Human Resource Services
- Information, Communication & Learning Technologies
Ross Fox was appointed as Director of Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn in December 2016. He has held senior positions in Catholic education across Australia, including Director in the Catholic Education Office Melbourne and Executive Director with the National Catholic Education Commission.
Ross grew up in country Victoria and studied Engineering at the University of NSW. Later, he read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University.
Ross is inspired by the great contribution that Catholic schools and educators have made to Australia and shares a passion for seeing every child benefit from quality teaching and learning.
Maree WilliamsHead of Religious Education and Curriculum Services
Maree has made significant contribution to Catholic Education since joining the organisation in 2002. Maree has had an important role in the implementation of many of the national agendas and progressing curriculum and literacy learning across the Archdiocese.
Prior to joining Catholic Education office, Maree worked at a number of Archdiocesan schools, including St Anthony’s Wanniassa; St Thomas the Apostle Kambah and St Jude’s Holder; where she held the positions of Coordinator, Assistant Principal and Acting Principal. Maree was also employed as a Lecturer at the University of Canberra in the School of Education.
Maree holds the following tertiary qualifications: Master of Education, Graduate Certificate in Inclusive Education and Wellbeing, Graduate Diploma of Religious Education and a Diploma of Teaching.
Responsibilities within Religious Education and Curriculum Services include: Catholic Faith Formation; Religious Education; Aboriginal Education; Curriculum, Pedagogy, Assessment and Reporting; Learning Technologies; Literacy; Numeracy; Students with Disabilities and Learning Support Needs and Vocational Education for students from pre-school to year 12. Maree leads a team of specialised education officers who support principals and teachers across the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn in these priority areas

Tim ElliottHead of School Services
Tim’s career in Catholic Education spans over 30 years and began back in the mid-1980s. Tim has held teaching and various leadership positions in both NSW and ACT primary and central schools. Tim was appoint as Principal of St Bede’s Braidwood NSW in 2000, followed by an appointment as Principal to St Anthony’s Wanniassa ACT in 2006. In 2013 Tim was appoint as Principal of Holy Spirit Nicholls ACT before taking up his current position as the Acting Head of School Service in 2016. Tim has gained the qualifications of a Masters of Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Teaching and a Certificate of Religious Education.
School Services delivers a range of support services to Archdiocesan schools, including: strategic planning; school improvement and review; school staffing; teacher accreditation, performance and development; assessment and reporting; leadership; and early learning and school age care programs.
Alan IbbettJoint Chief Information Officer, Communication & Learning Technologies
The Catholic Education Systems of Canberra Goulburn and Wollongong have introduced a model of shared ICT management and governance through the creation of the position of Joint Chief Information Officer to operate across both dioceses from the beginning of 2016.The first appointment of Joint Chief Information Officer is Alan Ibbett.
Alan, joined the Catholic Education Office Wollongong in November 2007 and has achieved numerous qualifications including a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Engineering (majoring in Telecommunications Management). He is currently completing studies towards a Doctorate in Information Technology.
In his work life he has practiced as an electrical engineer in several NSW Government departments, worked as a Senior Networks Manager with the Department of Education NSW and has most recently held the position of Chief Technology Officer for Catholic Education, Diocese of Wollongong.
